I am planning to move to Gibraltar, or UK in the sun as I call it!!

I'd appreciate a local view on the pitfalls if any of using a Gibraltar
registered car for short trips into Spain.

I've heard the border crossing can be very slow. Other than that does
one get unwelcome hassle from the Spanish police or local population.

Is it better to just get a cheap run about for within Gib and hire a
vehicle from La Linea for trips out ?

Please reply to newsgroup.

Best to rent a Spanish car for Spain. You probably don't need a car
for Gibraltar and the Spanish police sometimes have the idea that only
Gibraltarians who own the car can drive it in Spain. Having a G plate
is also an invitation to vandalism.

Thanks for this response Jim.

I was really thinking of a car for the weekly shopping trip to Morrisons
or wherever. I understand that there is a free bus service as a means of
getting around and taxis for after a night out.

Thanks again,

Blu.
